Jackleen Holton received her degree in Fine Arts, with honors, from the University of Arizona in 1992. Her poetry has been published in several magazines and journals as well as the anthology The Giant Book of Poetry . Her first chapbook Devil Music was published by Caernarvon Press in 2005. She is active in the local poetry and writing community and has given many featured readings of her work in venues throughout San Diego County. She has been the facilitator of a series of poetry workshops for homeless women at Rachel's Women's Center. She lives in San Diego and works as a Life Coach and Counselor.
Teaching ApproachJackleen often works with contemporary poetry, encouraging students to begin writing from where the poem takes them. She teaches poetry as a means of finding one's own unique voice, exploring personal history, and healing.
Special Emphasis or Special Skills
Jackleen has taught classes in intuitive development and meditation. She has an educational background in film and acting. Believing that the creation of art is a multi-sensory endeavor, she has used meditation, spoken word, media, music and visual art to spark students' creativity.
