Jennifer Swanton Brown published her first poem in the Palo Alto Times when she was in the fifth grade. Ms. Brown has degrees in Linguistics, German Literature, and Nursing, and has worked as an RN, a bureaucrat, a consultant, and is currently a medical/technical writer and editor. Jennifer has been a poet/teacher with California Poets in the Schools since 2001 and is currently the Santa Clara County Area Coordinator. She has been a member of the Waverley Writers group in Palo Alto since 1986 and the Squaw Valley Community of Writers since 1989. Her poems have been published or are forthcoming in Tundra, Disquieting Muses, The Sand Hill Review, Tangents, Fresh Hot Bread and other local journals. Jennifer is currently pursuing a Masters in Liberal Arts from Stanford University. She is a two-time recipient of a Fine Arts Commission grant from the City of Cupertino, where she lives with her husband and two children.
