CalPoets’ First Friday Community Meeting

All past and present California Poets in the Schools Poet-Teachers, educators, and community members are warmly invited to our First Friday Community Meeting during the lunch hour.

This event is free and open to the public.

12pm-12:45: Eddi Oliveira Salado presents a workshop. Eddi is a brand new Poet-Teacher who is offering this workshop as part of her training pathway.

12:45-1:30: CalPoets' Staff-led Panel on ideas for finding/creating local funding.

Synesthesia Lesson for the Classroom, Eddi Oliveira Salado: This workshop will teach poetry through the senses ,and is intended to get kids out of their heads and into their bodies when they write.  This workshop will include an explanation of the concept of Synthesia, a brief guided imagery exercise, sample poems that include synesthesia and a quick writing exercise.
